In small dry frying pan over medium heat, stir frequently until nuts start to change colour and become slightly fragrant. Transfer to plate to cool, do not leave toasted nuts in the hot pan or they will continue to toast until fully burnt. I use this method for chopped nuts and smaller items like sesame and sunflower seeds
For larger amounts, preheat oven to 350F. spread nuts in single layer on rimmed baking sheet and bake in oven 10 – 15 minutes, stirring every couple of minutes until nuts begin to brown. Remove from oven and transfer to plate to cool.
